Ceramics Workshop

On Monday 1 December a ceramics specialist visited the school to deliver a workshop to Year 9 students. The girls have been studying the work of Emma Bridgewater and spent the day decorating tiles to their own design. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we can't wait to see the finished results when they come out of the kiln!

See the Year 9 page for more images.

Diwali Celebrations

As part of the year 8 curriculum we have been looking at Rangoli patterns. We decided that as Diwali was coming up we would create some Rangoli patterns outside using traditional methods. The girls were given a whole morning to create their Rangoli and luckily the weather was with us and they thoroughly enjoyed the morning.

Busy week for years 10-13

This week has included a life drawing workshop, delivered by a tutor from the Royal Academy, and a visiting artist workshop with Ian Naylor. ( see www.iannaylor.co.uk ) The girls have really enjoyed both days and have completed a range of very experimental to detailed and precise drawings. A really valuable experience for them to build on their observational skills and confidence in drawing.

Year 9 Periodic Table project

At long last the periodic table is complete and it looks fantastic!  The girls worked very hard to create this collaborative piece with each girl in year 9 making several elements using a variety of textile techniques.
